Major William and Rosalie Voigt's Obituary
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 20, 2017, 11 am, at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 425 N. DuPont Hwy, Dover, for Major William and Mrs. Rosalie Voigt.
Major William Voigt, Ret. USAF and his beloved wife, Rosalie Voigt of Dover, DE, have been laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery, with full military honors. They were married 70 years.
Bill retired after 20+ years the USAF and the Department of Public Instruction. He also worked at Leeds and the Auditors Office. He was active in various military organizations, holding offices for MOAA/TROA; BAVA; speaking at various functions promoting the military; organizing trips for friends; volunteering at the base museum. He piloted the C-54 on display at the DAFB museum during the Berlin Airlift and was inducted into the DE Aviation Hall of Fame 2008. He loved flying, boating, and cruising to Bermuda.
Rosalie was one of the original teachers at The Little School, Dover; she loved children and they loved her. She enjoyed her bridge and dance clubs and was a friend to many. She was a social butterfly with a soft southern accent and was famous for her rum cakes and cream of crab soup.
Bill and Rosalie are survived by daughter, Deborah, husband, Ed Hammond and grandson, Brandon.
