Karen Jean Thomas' Obituary
Karen Jean Thomas, 69 of Leipsic, Delaware passed from this life on August 26, 2021 in her childhood home in Leipsic, DE. Karen was born on October 30, 1951 in Dover, Delaware. She was the pride and joy and only child of Robert Eliason and Dorothy Jeanne Cooper Thomas. Karen was a graduate of Dover High School’s Class of 1970.She worked at Acme for 20 years; both in Dover and later in Smyrna where she enjoyed creating floral arrangements as well as assisting in the bakery. She retired from Acme in January of this year. Karen especially enjoyed spending time with her kitty, Scout. As well as, reading, completing jigsaw puzzles, and, keeping in touch with long distance family via Facebook. She was also known for her brownies. Karen had a servant's heart and this was made evident by her service for the Lord through the Roby UMC in Leipsic, where she attended her entire life and assisted in Sunday School classes for many years. She was also an active member with the Leipsic Volunteer Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary for the past 19 years. Her meek and quiet spirit will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and her entire hometown of Leipsic. She is survived by her beloved cat, Scout; an uncle Ronald W. Cooper of Milford, DE. Cousins: V. Lynn Robinson Lowman of Moore, OK; Dale Robinson of Hartly, DE, Jackie Sue Robinson Weeks of Felton, DE, Robin J. Thomas of Waukesha, WI; Roger B. Thomas of Corpus Christi, TX, Timothy W. Thomas of Dover, DE; Amy B. Thomas Messick of Dover, DE, Robert K. Cooper of GA; Sue Ellen Cooper Sutton of Milford, DE and many other Thomas, Pugh, Cooper and Maloney cousins. She is predeceased by grandparents: William C. and Virginia Schifferdecker Thomas. As well as Raymond F. and Grace Maloney Cooper. Aunts & Uncles: William H. and Marianna Thomas; Jackie and Lois M. Thomas Robinson; Edgar M. and Catherine Webb Cooper. Cousins: Raymond S. Cooper, Christopher R. Abrams and Nathan E. Thomas. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 6:30pm at the Leipsic Volunteer Fire Company, 318 Main St. Leipsic, DE.A private interment will take place in the Thomas Family plot at Lakeside Cemetery in Dover. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Purr-Fect Haven Cat Rescue PO BOX 1737 Dover, DE 19903.
