Jean Hayes Bracken's Obituary
Jean Hayes Bracken, 82, Hartly, DE went home to heaven on April 16, 2022. She passed peacefully at home. Jean loved birds but her favorite was the hummingbird. She loved flowers, quilting, the American flag and camping, hunting and fishing with her family throughout the years. She spent many hours watching her fish and enjoying her aquarium. She also enjoyed watching NASCAR. Jean also loved growing up in the small town of Houston, DE, where she was very active in the 4-H Club. Jean was active in her community service with the Hartly Ruritan Club and making and delivering quilts to hospitals, nursing homes and veterans. Jean stayed and active member of IAAP (International Assoc. of Administrative Professionals) long after she retired in 1997. Jean was an Administrative Professional for 39 years. She retired from DNREC after 27 years in Cabinet Secretary's Office. She also worked at Playtex and for Max Terry Esq. Jean was preceded in death by her mother, Mae O'Neal Case Hayes, her father, Russell Pierce Hayes, her beloved husband, Carl Lee Bracken and sister, Elizabeth Hayes Shoup Williams. She is survived by her loving and daughter, Dawn (Bracken) Johnson and her husband James of Hartly. Her loving and devoted son, Kenneth Lee Bracken of Chesapeake VA. Her sisters Ruth Anne (Hayes) Ryland of Newmanstown, PA. Three grandchildren who brought her much joy, Kevin Michael Bracken and wife, Stephanie, of Pollock Pines, CA, grandson, Hayes Keo Bracken and granddaughter, Faith Keo Bracken of Chesapeake, VA and three great-grandchildren, Ellie Jean, Emma and Joe of Pollock Pines, CA. Jean had many nieces and nephews. Jean will be sadly missed by her loving family and friends. Mom was the center of her family and her home was our home. Services are Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Trader Funeral Home 12 Lotus Street Dover. Family and friends may call at 3 PM and services will begin at 4 PM Burial will be at a later date so that all family can reunite her with her husband, daddy and momma.
