William R. Twilley's Obituary
William R. Twilley, 89, of Wyoming Delaware, passed away April 1, 2023.
William, or Junior as he was known by many, was born in Delmar DE on August
14, 1933. He is pre-deceased by his mother Agnes Hastings, his father
William J.H.Twilley, a daughter Leanne, his sister Ann and, brother Donald.
During the Korean War era William served in the United States Army. Upon his
return home he married his "beautiful, pretty, stinkin, rotten" wife Roxie.
Later he became a Lifetime Member of Camden Wyoming Fire Company. He was an
avid Nascar fan, enjoyed luncheon chats at "The Sale" and never missed a
chance to participate in C.R.'s Class of 53's breakfast group.
However, where he met some near and dear friends and spent his life's work
was behind the wheel of a truck. Based on his years of experience traveling
the highways Junior was a wealth of information, from travel routes to speed
traps and the best ice cream shops. But it was after retiring his truck keys
in 1998 that he began his happiest venture working with C.P. King down on
the farm.
Above all, William was a loving husband, dad, and poppy. He will be greatly
missed by his surviving family, his wife Roxie and their two daughters,
Dottie (John) Cook and Jodi (John) Guthrie. His beloved grandchildren; Jason
(Dawn) Cook, Jamie (Chase) Thompson, Jena (Chris) Saxton, and Travis
Guthrie, his cherished great grandchildren; Wyatt, Landon, Anna, Katie and
Christopher.
He never met a stranger and was known for his hugs and good humor. Nothing
made him happier than to have a house full of family. His warm heart, quick
smile, and ornery good nature will be remembered fondly and missed deeply.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 7 at Trader Funeral Home on
Lotus Street, Dover, Delaware. Friends and family may call from 11:30-1:00.
Services begin at 1:00. In lieu of flowers family suggests memorial
contributions made to a charity of your choice in William's name.
