Wayne King Porter's Obituary
Wayne K. Porter, 65, of Smyrna, DE went home to be with his Lord on Saturday July 11, 2015 while surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on May 27, 1950 in Wilmington, DE to the late Charles and Sara (Foster) Porter. He was the loving husband of Barbara Hammond Porter with whom he shared almost 35 years of marriage. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he was trained in Aircraft Mechanics. He retired from Nationwide Insurance in 2004 after 28 years of service as a Claims Manager. After retirement, Wayne devoted his time to his “Walking Miracle” ministry, which has blessed many people through his music and teachings. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling and all of his sports.
He was preceded in death by his brother Bradford Porter and sister Ruthie Porter Bell. He is survived by his wife Barbara A. Porter, son Charles Porter and daughter Stephanie Porter. Three brothers: Charles Porter (Diane), Bedford Porter (Nancy), Robert Porter (Diane) and sister Sally Poultney (Rev. Norman). Grandchildren: Aiden, Charlie, Bradford, Carter, and Carlyann.
Visitation will be held Wednesday July 15, 2015 from 5pm to 8pm at Trader Funeral Home 12 Lotus Street Dover, DE. Friends may call on Thursday July 16, 2015 from 10:30am to 11:30pm with services immediately following at Trader Funeral Home. Burial will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cem. On Thursday at 2pm. The family would like to thank Compassionate Care for their faithful compassionate services.
