Virna Corinne Fitz, 84
Dover – Virna Corinne Fitz, age 84, of Dover passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Harrington, Delaware on April 4, 1933, Corinne was the daughter of the late Lydia (Simpson) and Thomas Grant. Corinne attended Harrington High School and worked as a secretary after graduation. As a military wife, she traveled to such places as Japan, Indiana, and New Mexico before settling back in Delaware.
Corinne worked as an administrative assistant at the Delaware Department of Transportation in Dover for much of her professional career, which allowed her to realize the dream of sending her daughters to college. She especially loved spending time with her family, had a knack for decorating, and loved to shop. Corinne will be remembered for her light-hearted sense of humor, her gentle nature, and her generous heart.
Corinne is survived by two daughters Sheri (Randall) Carrow of Galena, MD and Linda (Randall) Farmer of Dover, DE and two grandsons Brooks and Ryan Farmer both of Dover. She is also survived by two sisters Grace Ellwanger of Denton, MD and Jean Motter of Ridgely, MD.
Corinne was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Charles S. Fitz to whom she was married for 45 years. Corinne’s four brothers, Charles, Nelson, Paul, and William Grant and her sister Cynthia (Grant) Bloth also preceded her in death.
The family would like to thank the staff of State Street Assisted Living and Seasons Hospice who cared for Corinne in her final years.
Remembrance services will be Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Trader Funeral Home, Dover where friends may call at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
