Theo Lynn Newman's Obituary
Theo Newman, 61, of Felton, passed away December 2nd, peacefully, while sleeping.
Born in Cape Town, South Africa, he later immigrated to the United States with his family. He spent the bulk of his earlier years in Kentucky and Tennessee, graduating from Rhea County High School in 1977.
He joined the U.S. Airforce in 1981; working on base under escort, until he became a citizen of this country, 3 years later. He trained in maintenance/repairs on the aircraft and took courses with the College of the Air Force. He proudly served his country for 22 years, retiring as a Crew Chief in 2003. Following his retirement, he pursued several different lines of work, until landing a position as handyman for Harkin’s Construction. He happily worked there until the date of his death.
Theo was passionate about classic cars and couldn’t drive past a car show. He was quite the contender on a pool table, and thoroughly enjoyed a challenging game of ping pong or darts. He loved his fireplace, cutting and splitting the wood to run it, and truly enjoyed relaxing with a good bonfire going. But, most of all, he enjoyed people. He was genuinely a loving, giving person.
He is preceded, in death, by his parents, John and Rita Newman; younger brother, Alvin Newman; and older brother André Newman.
He is deeply loved, and now sorely missed by his wife of 13 years, Kellie A. Newman; son Isaac Newman (Elishia), daughter Ashley Newman, and step-daughter Suzie Maxwell (Bob); Grandchildren, Penelope, Layla, Thomas, Brianna, Gabriella, and Chase; Brothers Fritz Murray Newman (Betty), Denzil Newman (Kerry), and Lester Newman (Marie); as well as a host of nieces and nephews who meant the world to him.
Theo will be interred at the Veterans Cemetery, in Georgetown, but circumstances dictate that there be a delay in services. Notification of service details will take place at a later date.
