Stephen Burdette Hohman's Obituary
CWO4 Stephen Burdette Hohman passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family November 16, 2024 Steve was born December 16, 1949 in Frederick, Maryland and lived in Taneytown Maryland where he attended Taneytown High School.
Steve had a long career with the US Coast Guard of almost 21 years. During that time he began boot camp in Cape May New Jersey and was a dedicated member of the Coast Guard Band. His first duty Station was in Ketchikan Alaska, from there he was stationed in Steadfast St Petersburg Florida. In 1972 he attended RCC in Miami at 7th Coast Guard District Headquarters. From 1975 to 1977 he was in Portsmouth VA. In 1977 He was stationed in New Orleans where he made Warrant Officer, the youngest Warrant Officer in the Coast Guard at that time. He was stationed in Sitka, Alaska from 1978 to 1981 preceding to Headquarters in Washington DC then as Commanding Officer in Rockland Maine until his retirement in July of 1988.
After retiring from the Coast Guard he began his own branch of the family business taking over Hohman’s Peanuts from his father Harry and later adding Lemonade and Orangeade as well as his mother Jean’s Pizza and Stromboli food trailer. He has been affectionately known as “the Peanut Man” by many generations over the last 40 years. He was a Mason. His is survived by his wife of 25 years Sarah (Beth) Hohman married July 22, 1999 at the fairgrounds where they met. He is survived by his brother David Hohman (Barbara) and Sister Sena Roop (Neal) his sons Stephen G (Jena) Christopher (Amber) and Jason (Melinda), stepsons Christopher Yun (Amy) and Daniel Yun. 11 grandchildren, Jordan, Ryan, Riley and Lauren, Colin and Cayden, Maddison and Harrison, Adrien, Sophia and Elijah, Mother-in Law Columbia Porter and Father-in-Law James Porter and Sister-in-Law Deborah Bland as well as 3 great grandchildren.
