Shirley Anne Lewis' Obituary
Shirley Anne Lewis (David), 79, Dover, passed away Tuesday December 30, 2014 at KGH Bay Health Dover.
She was born on August 8, 1935 in Dover, DE to the late Edward and Madelyn Brittingham David.
Shirley worked for the Capital School District for over 30 years. Everyone knew Mrs. Lewis. In her years at Central Middle School she served for more than a dozen principals and associate principals. Shirley had a great relationship with students. They knew she was there for them and would help in any way she could, and would always listen.
Shirley is survived by her Husband, James B. Lewis of Smyrna, Six Children, James Lewis of Dover, his wife Gail, Gary Lewis of Lewes his partner Lesley, David Lewis, Danny Lewis, Lisa Burris her husband Frank, Patty Lodholz all of Dover. Eight Grand Children, James C. Lewis his wife Christine, Benjamin E. Lewis, Frank B. Burris, Patricia L. Burris, Rachael Lewis, Gary Lewis, Rebecca Lewis, and Kyle Lewis. Two Great Grand Daughters, Alyssa and Leona, Her Sisters, Jean Stevenson of Lillian, AL, Nancy Duerr her husband Carl of Shenandoah, VA, her best friend Carolyn Jaggers of NC, and a hosts of nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Sat. 01/10/2015 1 PM at Trader Funeral Home in Dover, DE
Friends may also call call Sat. 01/10/2015 11 AM to 1 PM at the Trader Funeral Home in Dover.
Per Shirley's request and in lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to donate to the Kent County SPCA monetary or food donations can bring those donations to the Memorial Service to be delivered by the family to the KSPCA on Monday January 12, 2015 in her memory as her dog Cupcake and cat were always by her side and were the last in a long line of pets she has cared for thought her life.
