RUTH ANN KREER
February 17, 1942 – November 1, 2025
83 Years Old
Ruth Ann Kreer of Dover, Delaware passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025. She was born on February 17, 1942, to the late William W. and Beatrice M. (Willis) Opdyke. Ruth graduated from Dover High School and married her high school sweetheart Wayne L. Kreer shortly thereafter. She worked at General Cable in the 1960’s and 1970’s and then worked at Records-Gebhart Insurance in Smyrna, Delaware for 38 years.
Ruth enjoyed going shopping for antiques, gardening, cross stitching, crocheting, and reading about history, especially Civil War and World War II. She was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother and would do anything in the world for them. She was active in the Cheswold United Methodist Church. Even though she was not attending in recent years, she continued her daily readings and held a strong belief in God.
Ruth is survived by her two sons: Dean Kreer and David (Terry) Kreer; one sister, Linda Opdyke-Baker (Rick); sisters-in-law Peggy Kreer and Mary Opdyke; grandchildren: Olivia (Colin) Cole, Nathan Kreer and fiancé Casey, and Laura Hutchins (Lynne); great grandchild Eloise Cole; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including longtime friends Karen and David Bower. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Kreer, and her brother, William Opdyke III.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, Delaware 19901. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be immediately after at Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica, Delaware.
