Ronald Stephen Slacum's Obituary
Ronald Stephen Slacum, age 63, of Dover, Delaware, passed suddenly on August 6, 2016. He was born on February 18, 1953 to parents Eugene Sr. and Luvia Slacum. Ron was a 1971 graduate of Dover High School and a University of Delaware alumnus.
Ron was an avid sports fan, playing basketball and softball and coaching little league when he was a gipper. He loyally cheered on the Eagles, Phillies, and his daughters’ college teams. When not following his favorite sports on TV, or memorizing the newspaper, he could be found on the golf course with his best buddies. Ron was a member of the It’s All Good In Delaware organization. He was also a lover of all animals and would bring home as many as he could. He is best known for his “all day” Diet Pepsis, unique sense of humor, and witty one-liners.
He is survived by his three daughters: Ashley Wyatt and husband Chad Wyatt, Sarah Slacum and Rebecca Slacum; grandchildren: Aidan, Ava and Adalyn Wyatt; 2 dogs: Bruno and Yogi; brothers: Curt, Scott and Stacey Slacum; and numerous extended family members and countless lifelong friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Eugene Jr. and Robin Slacum; and many beloved pets.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Ron touched are invited to a visitation on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 4:30 to 6:30pm at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, DE. A graveside service will be held at 10:30am Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Barratt’s Chapel in Frederica with a celebration of life to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to: It’s All Good In Delaware or your local pet shelter.
Ron loved checking the obituaries each morning to see if he was in there yet. We hope we made you proud today, Dad - you don’t have to go to work!
