Raymond E Burks' Obituary
Raymond E Burks of Dover DE, went quietly into that good night and into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 11, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. There to meet him were a host of loved ones who passed on before him. These include: his mother and father- Earl and Ruth Burks, Poppa Rutledge, Charles Harris and his son Steven Lausier.
Raymond most recently worked at SG Williams of Dover as Warehouse Manager. He was well loved and respected by his employer and coworkers. We're pretty sure one of the most long lasting memories his coworkers will retain of him is just how far Raymond would go to win the $0.27 game.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Del Burks, who's too short to reach anything taller than 5 feet. She surely will miss Raymond's assistance reaching those high spaces; son Christopher Burks and grandson Alexander Burks of Ruther Glen, VA; daughter Kayla Burks and her significant other, Shane Musgrave of Pocomoke City, MD.; daughter Keri Lupinetti and her husband Dante and grand daughter Aubrey Lupinetti of Dover, DE; sister Glenda Taylor and her husband Dan of Nashville, GA; sister Robin Casteel and husband Joe of Macon, GA, brother Gary Burks and his wife Shirley of Philadelphia, MS and sister Rhonda Banks and husband Larry of Americus, GA. Raymond also has several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Raymond was sent to us with a quiet and humble spirit, a loyal heart, and a passion for the care of others. He would go out of his way to help anyone that needed it. Raymond loved golf, Nascar, UFC and the Philadelphia Eagles. He was thrilled to see his team advancing as they were this year. Above all else he loved God and his family. His children were loved with great depth. His grandchildren brought him joy that words can not express. Although Raymond didn't have credentials or awards to pronounce to the world, what he did have was testimonies for his constant service to others. He never had a desire to be on a pedestal but more-so in the trenches where help was needed. When we needed a hand around the house he would reach out to a local rehab center to offer work to men who needed that outstretched hand. When a young person needed a room, there was always a place for them to be. He had a special place in his heart when it came to the elderly. He believed they should be respected and Raymond enjoyed them recanting their stories and appreciated everything they contributed to the world.
Those who knew and loved Raymond and were blessed by him, we invite you to celebrate his life with us at a Memorial Service to be held at Grace Church (PCA), 350 McKee Road, Dover, on Saturday, December 16, 2017. Visitation will begin at eleven, followed by services at twelve. A light reception will follow in the All Purpose Room at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to honor Raymond's memory and “go make a friend” by passing that money on to benefit others as you see fit. Find a cause, find a person, go make a difference in someone's world.
Notes of condolences may be sent to the family at his home 482 Sunset Drive Dover, DE 19901.
Arrangements by Trader Funeral Home, Dover.
Personal thank you to Grace Church.
