Michael Dennis McCusker, 73
Smyrna: Michael D. McCusker, 73, died Friday, September 18, 2015, surrounded by his family, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia after a brief illness. He was born in West Chester, PA on July 20, 1942 to the late Hugh McCusker and Jean (Curtin) Glanden. In addition to his parents and step-father, James Glanden, he was pre-deceased by his first wife, Charlotte “Jo” McCusker and brother, Hugh McCusker.
Mike graduated from Corpus Christi High School, Elsmere, DE in 1961. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1961-1965. He trained at the U.S. Army Language School in Monterey, CA as an Arabic Linguist and then stationed in Cypress. He later transferred to the NSA at Fr. Meade, MD as a Communications Technician. He was employed at DuPont Company and then became a police officer with the Dover Police Department. After being injured on the job, he retired and worked briefly at Bayhealth Medical Center. He was Executive VP of Incorporating Services and became a Realtor and Broker for Re/Max 1st Choice until his retirement in 2013.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Helen (Siegel), son Greg (Kris) of Smyrna, and daughter, Denise of Bowie, MD, along with grandchildren, Kylie and Sean of Smyrna, and Logan of Bowie, MD.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, September 23. 2015 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, DE. Visitation will also be at 11:00 am, Thursday, September 24, with services to follow at noon.
