Mary C Willis' Obituary
Mary C. Willis died on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, Dover Delaware at the age of 97.
Mrs. Willis was born December 12, 1917 near Leipsic, DE, the daughter of the late John W. & Mae Pearl Carey.
She was a loving mother and homemaker whose life revolved around her family and church. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Dover since 1945. She was instrumental in establishing the Wesley Clothing Closet in the early 1970’s and worked with it for 25 years. She was a former member of the United Methodist Women and participated in their activities. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, board games, puzzles, and playing croquet.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John G. Willis, her brothers: Fred, Wilson & Franklin Carey, her sister: Catherine Moor, her daughter-in-law: Margaret Willis, and son-in-law: Gene Hart.
She is survived by a son John G.Willis of Cockeysville, MD., four daughters (and spouse): Frances Deats (Ralph), Dover; MaryAnn Dashiell (Robert), Camden; Janet Hart, Dover; and Suzanne Morris (Pete), Hartly, 11 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren. A special thanks to Robin Carey, her caregiver and to the Hospice nurses and aids.
Services will be on Saturday January 31, 2015 at 12 noon at Traders Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St, Dover where friends may call from 10:30-12:00. The burial will follow at Sharon Hill Memorial Park, Dover.
