Mary Margaret Irwin Our precious mother, Mary Margaret Irwin, passed awaypeacefully in her sleep on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at theage of 88. Originally from Altoona, PA. She met her husbandJohn Irwin (preceded in death in 2013) in Wilmington DE, andthey eventually moved to Camden DE in the 1970’s where shelived most of her adult life. Mary and John were well known intheir hometown of Camden and had many friends. Mary wasdevoted to her husband of 60 years and worked side-by-side withhim in their trucking and farming businesses. She loved rosesand gardening. She was also known for her large produce stand.Mary is survived by her five children: James Irwin, DorisLeonardo, Daniel Irwin, Doreen Polanco, and Karen Irwin. Shewas grandmother to Christopher Jones, Johnny and Cindy Irwin,Kimberly Rivera, Kelly Phillip, Jeremy and Stephanie Johnson,Joshua, and Amy Irwin. She had eleven great-grandchildren.She spent a lot of time with her four oldest grandchildren butloved them all. She had a great laugh and was very supported toher children. She was so proud of them all. She often stated thatshe did a good job raising them because they all turned out well.As her health was declining, she often mentioned her parents andhow much she missed and wanted to see them. She loved familyand loved when they came to visit. Mary always said that allmothers should go straight to heaven. She loved being a momeven though it could be challenging with five head-strong anddetermined children. She was loved dearly, and her family willmiss and think of her often. They know she is in heaven with theLord and at peace.Funeral services will be Saturday Sept. 17, 11 AM and can call one hour before the services at St. John's Lutheran Church Dover, burial will be at Sharon Hill Memorial Park Dover.
