Mary Carlin Novak Balacco
Mary Carlin Novak Balacco, age 81, passed while living at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living Facility in Largo Florida, on Tuesday January 28, 2014, after suffering from Alzheimer’s for several years.
Mary was a long time member of the Women’s’ International Bowling Congress, holding the office of President of the Lower Delaware Women’s Bowling Association and as an Officer and Director of the Delaware State Women’s’ Bowling Association for a number of years. She was elected to both the Delaware State Women’s’ and Lower Delaware Women’s’ Bowling Halls of Fame for Meritorious Service.
Mary relocated to Largo, Florida, and lived in the Palm Hill Country Club. She was elected as President of the PHCC Residents’ Association. Mary will always be known as a caring, fun loving, friend to many, who loved to dance.
Survivors include her current husband Vito T Balacco, her son Ward Novak and his wife Margaret, of Middletown, Delaware, Stepdaughter Ann Caldwell and her husband Roy, of Clayton, Delaware, niece Deborah Wicks and her husband John, of Kissimmee, Florida and Brother-in-Law Charles Elliott, also of Kissimmee. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Florence Viehman, sister Anna Carlin Elliott, and her first husband, Ward Novak, Sr.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday April 11, 2014 at the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, Delaware. Inurnment will be held immediately following, at Lakeside Cemetery on State Street, Dover, Delaware.
