Mahlon William Wise's Obituary
Mahlon William Wise, age 87, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, in Camden, Delaware. Born on November 11, 1938, in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, Mahlon lived a life marked by service, devotion to family, and a deep love for his faith and country.
A proud and patriotic member of the United States Air Force, Mahlon dedicated 28 years to military service. Throughout his distinguished career, he earned multiple medals and achievements and traveled extensively with his family. His commitment to serving others continued beyond his military years—he worked as a Civil Service employee for 10 years and later served the State of Delaware for an additional 11 years.
Mahlon was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Judith H., whose memory remained close to his heart throughout his life. He is survived by his children: sons Mark L. (wife Michelle) and Gary W. (wife Mandy), and daughter Kim S. (husband Mike). He also leaves behind cherished grandchildren Patricia A., Michael A., Mareena N., and Caitlin S., as well as great-grandchildren Fynn W., Layton S., Ronan L., and Hudson M.
Known affectionately as the "$2 bill man," he had a unique way of spreading joy—often gifting $2 bills as tokens of goodwill. His signature farewell, “love and cheers,” became a heartfelt reminder of the warmth he shared with everyone he met.
In retirement, Mahlon found great joy in fishing with family and collecting coins—pastimes that reflected both his appreciation for quiet moments and his attention to detail. Later in life, he embraced a newfound Christianity that brought him peace and purpose. He deeply valued his relationship with the Lord and treasured the fellowship he found among friends at church.
Mahlon William Wise will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to service, his enduring love for family, and the kindness he extended to all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who carry it forward. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 9, 2026, at Calvary Assembly of God Church 1141 East Lebanon Rd. Viewing will be from 9:00-10:00, service from 10:00-11:00, and military burial at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1PM, 2465 Chesapeake City Road in Bear, DE, 19701.
