Dad
Our dear Dad will not be here to see the sun rise tomorrow. He passed away the evening of January 25 after a short illness.
Lloyd Dexter Coffield was born in his family’s home on a farm in Moundsville, WV October 14, 1937. The eighth child of Cecil and Mary Maxine Berisford Coffield.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his siblings Junior Coffield, Merritt Coffield, Dale Coffield, Bob Coffield, John Coffield, Peggy Coffield Gribben and Charlie Coffield.
Dad graduated from Moundsville High School, joined the Marine Corps Reserved, earned a CPA without a college degree (which is no longer possible), spent his career as Vice President of Fostoria Glass Company, on the board of Mercantile Bank and spent many years trading watches and collecting t-shirts from all parts of the world.
Dad was his happiest taking daily walks outdoors with their favorite dogs of the past, Dimmy, Jenny, Lucy Suzy and Mitzi.
He leaves behind his high school sweetheart and love of his life Sandra Burgess Coffield. 66 years of marriage. By anyone’s standards, they were an incredible beautiful loving couple every second of those 66 years.
He is survived by all three children, his son Craig (Judi) who lives in Magnolia, DE, daughter Kelley who lives in Houston, TX and son Mark (Oli) who lives in Saigon, Viet Nam.
We provided our Dad with 8 grand kids (Craig & Judi: Danielle, Josh, Nathan, Kelley: Meg, Peter, Lizzie, Mark: Burgess, Asher), 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews!
All children will remember and appreciate the support and real love our Dad gave us his whole life during both our best and our worst times.
Our Dad, we know will forever be grateful of the extra care and love that Craig and Judi provided him at their home the final months of his life.
We love you Dad. Though you will not see that sunrise today, your memories and love will live in the hearts of your family forever.
