Lillian Jane Stachecki's Obituary
Lillian “Jane” Stachecki, 75
Dover- Jane Stachecki passed away peacefully August 18th, 2015.
Jane was born July 3, 1940 to the late Lillian Grier and the late Lloyd Grier from Woodside, Delaware. In addition to her parents, her Brother, Lloyd Grier Jr., preceded her in death. Jane is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Michael Stachecki and their two sons Michael Stachecki Jr. and his wife Mary Stachecki, Todd Stachecki and his wife Serena Pelletier. Jane is loved by her seven grandchildren: Michael Stachecki III, Matthew Stachecki, Adam Stachecki, Adrien Pelletier, Alexandria Pelletier, Cameron Davis, Candice Davis, and her great grandchild Carter Smith. Her best friend and companion, her dog Jack, also survives her. A celebration of her life will be held 11am, August 24th at Holy Cross church in Dover. Funeral will follow at 12pm and she will be buried at Holy Cross cemetery on New Street in Dover. Family and Friends are meeting for a gathering and lite buffet at Dover Elks on Salisbury road following the burial around 2pm. Jane was raised on a farm where she milked cows and helped her parents around the farm. She was a hard worker who never complained. Jane left the farm when she married the love of her life, Michael Stachecki, now a retired City of Dover Police Officer. She was a waitress for many years until her dream of owning her own restaurant came true; she and Mike bought The Little Grocer, the well-known sub shop and grocery store in East Dover. Some of her most cherished times were spent with her family at their beach house in Broadkill. She loved collecting shells, fishing, and watching all the tankers and the ferry across the bay. She would always ride with her husband gathering trash and horseshoe crabs off the beach. Her care for the beach and how clean it was kept showed how Jane was such a selfless person, putting the benefits of others before her own. Jane and her husband always loved helping people, especially children. They helped countless amounts of kids through Little League, sponsoring teams and giving their time. They also helped many young kids who worked at The Little Grocer, working with their schedules to further their education and mentoring them to work hard, follow their dreams and strive for success. Her last dream came true when her grandson opened Mommom’s Ice Cream earlier this year, dedicated to her love for ice cream and previous wishes of having her own ice cream stand. She also used to love to snow ski and watch her husband and son’s softball team. Jane’s latest passion was taking strolls with her husband Mike and her dog Jack.
