I always admired Leona’s musicianship and the music ministry she developed at St. James Episcopal Church Mill Creek. Little did I know that I would one day follow in her footsteps and be blessed with such an amazing choral library upon my arrival as the new Music Director at St. James over a decade ago. I had the honor of musically celebrating our 300th anniversary as a parish in 2014. Leona’s legacy lives on in our hearts as we continue to sing anthems of praise, some of which were her own choosing. Well done good and faithful servant. We have known Leona since 1993...she was our church organist at St. James Millcreek and a dear friend. We were honored to have her attend my ordination to the Priesthood and serve as the organist at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Milton, FL.She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The first I met Miss Leona, we had a mutual connection of kinship that only be described as spiritual. We both love the Lord and music ,and life. My company provided cleaning service for her, and she was not only a client, but a dear friend. We would talk on the phone; and always shared a hug or two when we visited. Leona was a very special person to me whom I have known for many, many years. I loved Leona for her caring and tender heart. She was a great listener and gave wonderful advice. She always encouraged me and made me feel special. I will miss her greatly but I have wonderful memories of our times together. I am praying for her family that God will give them strength and comfort in the days ahead.
