Julia Pratka Vogl's Obituary
Julia Pratka Vogl graced this world with her generosity and compassion for 97 years before passing away peacefully in her sleep March 16, 2023 of natural causes at State Street Assisted Living Center in Dover.
Julia was born July 28, 1925 and led a full and rewarding life. In 1947, she volunteered to work with U.S. Forces in war torn Europe in the aftermath of World War II. She always said that experience helped take her from naïve to wise on the realities of the world and shaped her belief that any problem could be solved with grit and determination because she had seen it done in that most extreme situation.
When she returned to the U.S., she met and married Levi Vogl in 1950. They were married for 51 happy years before Levi’s death in 2001. They raised 6 children together. Julia traveled all over the US and to the Panama Canal Zone with Levi, making it a point to golf at each location. After his death, Julia continued that travel with her daughters Patricia and Jeanne to the American cities she always wanted to see. Her favorite pastime was enjoying time with family, mixing wise advice with humor.
Julia was preceded in death by her husband Levi and son Richard Vogl who passed away in 1978.
She is survived by her sister Martha Gilly of Hellertown, PA, son and daughter-in-law Paul and Svetlana Vogl of Smyrna, daughter Kathy Pizzadili of Rehoboth Beach, daughter and son-in-law Patricia and John Smart of Cape Coral, FL, daughter and son-in-law Mary and F.A. Frattarelli of Meridian, ID, daughter and son-in-law Jeanne and Dusty Carnahan of Dover, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Holy Cross Church in Dover on March 24, 2023 at 11 a.m., followed by internment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Letters of condolences may be sent to http://www.traderfh.com
