On Thursday, November 23,2023 we lost our family patriarch John R. Derrickson Jr. Home to be with the Lord at approximately 10:15 am on Thanksgiving Day while snorkeling at beautiful Coki Beach in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. John was traveling with his wife of 25 years Lorraine, his daughter, Lynn, and grandson, Daniel, along with extended family and friends.
He is survived by:

Sisters: Marion and Rose
Children: Lynn, Laurie, Dan, and Amy
Grandchildren: Andrew, Nikolas, Brandon, Daniel, Alaunra, Darya, Kristen, Gabrielle, Nicholas, and Adam.
Great Grand Children, Edison, Ethan, and Sophia;
His beloved dogs: Sampson and Delilah
John’s family takes comfort in the knowledge that he passed in a beautiful place, doing something, he loved, without pain, and while traveling with people whom he loved, and cherished.
John lived a full life which included serving his country with honor and distinction in the US Army in Vietnam. He was an active membe4r of his local VFW in Felton, Delaware.
He was the current president of local 81134 of the IUE-CWA Where he dutifully let the Union membership for over 10 years.
John was an active member of the Trinity family life Center community on Mount Herman Church Road in Salisbury, Maryland where he was a committed servant of the Lord. He traveled on missions to Sun Valley Indian school in Arizona, and made five trips to Biloxi Mississippi, following hurricane Katrina.
John was a devoted family man who enjoyed being with his loved ones and friends. He loved traveling, snorkeling, camping, volunteering, working on his home and property. He loved talking about riding his Harley Softail.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at Traders Funeral Home on 12 Lotus St., Dover, DE on Wed. Dec. 13, 2023, service at 11:30 AM and friends may call at 10:30 AM.
John will be laid to rest in the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery in Millsboro Delaware on Wed. Dec. 13, 2023 at 2 PM
