John F. Decleene's Obituary
John F. DeCleene, of Magnolia Delaware, passed peacefully in his sleep on May 9 th , 2024. John was surrounded by his loving son Jeffrey DeCleene, daughter in law Tina DeCleene and grandchildren Mallory DeCleene and Nathan DeCleene. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Janet Shirley DeCleene and his eldest son Johnny DeCleene. In his early years John happily served his country for over 20 years as a flight engineer for the USAF. During his time overseas for the Air Force he met and fell in love with his wife Janet. After marrying Janet in 1957, they moved to Hunter Air force base in Savannah, Georgia. Eventually settling in Delaware, they raised two sons Johnny and Jeff. Following retirement from the Air Force, he worked for Reichhold Chemicals and he and his wife had their own chicken farm. John was an overwhelmingly selfless man. He was well known in the community and cared for others as if they were family. Many people thought of him as the father or grandfather they never had. It was his mission to make others comfortable and happy. During the last few years of his life John moved from his home in Marydel to live with his son Jeff and family in Magnolia. He was a much beloved and cherished member of their family. John is survived by his son Jeff (Tina), daughter in law Robin (widow of his son Johnny), grandchildren Mallory, Nathan, Nicholas, and Jammie. Family and friends and others whose lives John touched are invited to Celebrate his Life on Wednesday May 15th, 2024 at 10:00am, at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street Dover, DE with a graveside service to follow at Sharon Hills Cemetery, 2928 Sharon Hill Road, Dover, DE.
