John David Chippie's Obituary
Dover - John D. Chippie, 76, died Monday Jan. 11, 2021 at Bayhealth Center in Milford after a long struggle with escalating health issues. He was born April 22, 1944 in Long Branch, NJ, the first of 5 children of John G. and Mary E. Chippie. The family moved to Cheswold, DE where John attended Dover schools. He graduated from Dover High where he participated in sports. He went on to graduate from Delaware State University and earned additional Masters degrees in business related subjects. He worked for the University till his retirement. He enjoyed spending time at his vacation home in VA. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Doris Isele. He is survived by his wife Rita Holderbaum Chippie of Dover, who cared for him during his last years. Her humor and kindness helped him cope with his pain and disabilities. He is also survived by Brothers Michael L. and Thomas Chippie of Albuquerque, NM.; Joseph Chippie of Rehoboth Beach, DE. John had no offspring of his own but enjoyed his nieces and nephews. Because of public health restriction guidelines, a private graveside service will be Monday Jan. 18, at 11 AM at Odd Fellows Cemetery Camden.
