Johanna Marie Lumia's Obituary
Johanna Marie Lumia, also known as Jenny, peacefully passed away on November 24, 2023, at her home, in Felton, Delaware, at the age of 97. Born on June 24, 1926, in Croton, New York, Jenny was the youngest of six. She lived through the Great Depression and 14 US recessions, inventions to include car radios, penicillin, drive in movies, jet engines, color televisions, microwave ovens, Velcro, cake mix, credit cards, mobile phones, the internet and much more.
Jenny was a kind woman with simple needs and interest – nothing too complicated about her. She adored her fur babies and leaves her spirited Japanese Chin, Geisha, in loving hands. Jenny found joy in tinkering in her yard and spending time on her porch, enjoying the beauty of nature and the frequent passerby. In her earlier years, she was a wonderful cook and a masterful pie-maker, her specialty being a delectable chocolate cream pie made with My-T-Fine cooked pudding only. Her home was always pristine, and she had strict rules to keep it that way. Jenny also had a love for travel and embarked on numerous cruises with her youngest son, Peter. Despite facing hardships throughout her life, including the loss of her parents at the age of three, Jenny was known for her spunkiness, determination, and self-sufficiency. She was always faithful and loyal to God and those she cared about.
Jenny is survived by her loving daughter, Toni Ann (Jerry) Patt, her son, Michael Joseph (Beverly) Lumia, and her youngest son, Peter Paul Lumia. She will be forever cherished in the hearts of her grandchildren, Tonia (Joe) Romano, Christopher (Jacqueline) Patt, Heather (John Rocks) Lumia, and Michael William (Dena) Lumia. Additionally, Jenny leaves behind her six beautiful great-grandchildren, Cameron Joseph, Owen Christopher, Emma Grace, Abigail Lydia, Sara Elizabeth, and Ryan Jacob.
Jenny was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Katherine Lopez, Joseph Mussro, Elizabeth Titillo, Louis Mussro, and Nicholas Mussro. Their memories will forever be held dear.
The family will be gathering for an intimate celebration of Jenny's life, honoring her legacy and the impact she had on those around her.
