Joe Klenoski's Obituary
Joe Albert Klenoski, 75
DOVER – Joe A. Klenoski passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Kent General Hospital. He was born in Benavides, Texas on December 11, 1939 the son of Robert C. Klenoski and the late Mary Klenoski.
Mr. Klenoski proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1960 – 1963, doing a tour in Vietnam. He then joined the City of Dover Police Department in 1963 and achieved the rank of Chief of Police from 1979 to 1988 when he retired. He worked at the Office of the Public Defender as an Investigator from 1988 to 1997. In 1997 he was appointed the Prothonotary of Superior Court until 2000, when he was appointed Deputy Court Administrator for Superior Court, until his retirement in 2012.
He was a life time member of the Delaware Police Chiefs Foundation and the Delaware Police Chiefs Council. He was a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
Mr. Klenoski is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Klenoski and his sister, Roberta Buckhault.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Darlene, and his daughter Jeannie Balke and her husband Kenny, two grandchildren (Austin and Amanda and her fiancé Chandler Rochford), and two great-grandchildren, (Greyson and Cordelia). He is also survived by his father Robert C. Klenoski and his sister Katie O’Brien of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Kent General Hospital and Delaware Hospice for their wonderful care.
