Jerry L. Marcum's Obituary
Jerry Passed away on December 31, 2025. Born on December 2, 1955, in Williamson, West Virginia. His family moved to Dover, Delaware in his childhood. Many will remember Jerry for his unique and uplifting laughter. He enjoyed socializing through Facebook and in person with a sincere enjoyment for bringing laughter to others. In his free time, Jerry liked to take in the life of the farm. He was often found on the front porch enjoying the duck’s interacting with their young, and the goats’ rambunctious antics. Jerry invested in feeding, watching and identifying the birds of the eastern shore. He had a soft side and a stubborn side, determined not to be topped by any other. Above all else, Jerry especially valued spending countless hours bass fishing with his grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Bill & Alma Marcum, two brothers Ronnie Marcum & Donnie Marcum. He leaves behind his longtime companion Anita Mumford, son Cody (Samantha) Newman, and stepchildren, Melissa (Brian) McMullen, Shane (Kelly) Mumford, Cody (Jordan) Mumford, and Dakota (Kaylee) Mumford. Grandchildren Hunter, Sage, Brayden, Bailey, Shane II, Payton, Caleb, Avery, Haylie, Emersyn, Grant, Karson, and Kane. Two great grandchildren, Asher Diaz and Zoey Mumford. Two close nieces Jaime Marcum and Jennifer Walker, both of North Carolina, along with several cousins, extended family members, lifelong and new friends who will sadly miss him. In accordance with his wishes, Jerry was cremated. To accommodate and include as many family members and friends as possible, additional time is needed to schedule a celebration of life. Details regarding the celebration will be announced at a later date on Jerry’s Facebook page.
