Jay Kenneth Perry's Obituary
CMSGT (retired) Jay Kenneth Perry passed away peacefully surrounded by his five daughters on Thursday, April 25, 2024 in Magnolia, DE. He was born December 22, 1933 to the late Margaret and Reverend Leroy Perry in Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Phyllis (Finkey) Perry, 3 brothers and sister, all from Pennsylvania. He is survived by his five daughters: Carlene Giuttari (Frank) of Florida, Deborah Fausey (William) of Magnolia, Talletha Hampton, of Dover, DeWana Ljung of California, and Denise Balcerak (David), of Smyrna; 10 Grandchildren, and his wife of 15 years Mary Perry of Pennsylvania. He entered the Air Force at the age of 17 and passionately served his country in several stateside assignments, as well as, deployment to Africa, Vietnam, Germany, and Alaska. During his 31 years in the Air Force, he worked tirelessly in the fire and rescue; ultimately becoming Fire Chief, prior to his retirement in 1981. Jay was known for his amazing stories, his sharp wit, and his love of country music. He was an incredible cook and enjoyed cooking big Sunday meals for his family. He had the kindest heart and warmest smile. He was a dear friend to many and will be greatly missed. Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2024 11 AM at First Baptist Church 301 Walker Road Dover. Friends may call one hour before. Interment Services following at Sharon Hill Memorial Park.
