James Dryden Kerzwick's Obituary
James Dryden Kerzwick, 87, of Dover, Delaware, passed away on March 11, 2026, at the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford, Delaware.
He was born on June 2, 1938, in Natick, Massachusetts, the son of Katherine Argento.
James was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Mary Lou Kerzwick (née Walker).
He is survived by his children: Diana L. Gibson; Deborah L. Hunt and her husband Arthur J. Hunt; and James E. Kerzwick and his wife Laura Kerzwick.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Joshua Gibson, Michael Gibson, Glen Waltemire, Jennifer Farnkopf, Elizabeth Thornton, Melissa Kerzwick, and Charles King.
His great-grandchildren include Samantha Russell, Courtney Farnkopf, Ryan Waltemire, Rose Waltemire, Braden Thornton, Chase Thornton, Ashton Thornton, Claire Corn and Madison Corn.
His great-great-grandchild is Raven Gray Russell.
Jim worked as a Calibration Lab Supervisor at the Public Service Enterprise Group Nuclear Plant in New Jersey for 20 years. Prior to that, he worked in the same capacity at NASA during the Shuttle Program.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1958 until his retirement in 1978. During his service he worked as a loadmaster and later as a calibration technician. His military career took him all over the world, including deployments to Korea and Vietnam, and his family accompanied him to many locations, including the Philippines.
After retiring from the military, Jim earned his college degree from Brevard Community College in Melbourne, Florida.
Jim was known for his intelligence, strong work ethic, wicked sense of humor, warmth, friendliness, generosity, and his love of dogs.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling leagues, computers, flying Cessnas, painting, cake decorating, cooking, gardening, and doing crossword puzzles. He especially enjoyed walking his miniature poodle, Cole.
A memorial service will be held on March 28, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, Delaware. Military honors will be presented.
Following the service, family and friends are invited to join the family for lunch at Vincenzo’s Italian Restaurant and Gelato, 1035 Forrest Avenue, Dover, Delaware 19904.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jim’s memory to Brandywine Valley SPCA, 1757 Horsepond Road, Dover, Delaware 19901.
Jim’s kindness, humor, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
