James Lewis Dalton Sr, 80 MARYDEL – James (Jim) Lewis Dalton Sr, of Strauss Ave., Marydel, passed away Thursday March 9, 2017, peacefully, surrounded by family that loved him dearly, at Cadia Rehabilitation Capital Nursing home of Dover DE. He was 80. He was born on February 5, 1937 in Glen Jean, W.Va., to the late Thomas Patrick Dalton Sr & Elizabeth Haney Dalton. He was a member of South Side Baptist Church, in Woodside, DE. He was a member of the United States Airforce. enjoyed camping, spending time with family, baseball (he was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles) He loved his dog Reba, fishing. He was the owner of J.L Dalton and Sons Flooring for 50 plus years. He was known for his craft of installing and refinishing hardwood, which is almost a forgotten art. He worked at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery after retirement until his stroke in 2014. Jim coached little league for many years at the Marydel Hartly Little League. He was a Deacon at his church. He loved God with all his heart. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Brenda Gardner Dalton (2008), brother, Thomas P. Dalton Jr, sister Clara Catherine Burgess. He is survived by his son and his significant other, James L. Dalton Jr. & Jennabeth Littleton of Dover, son and his wife, Keith P. and Jaime Dalton of Marydel; daughter and her husband, Janet L. and Charles Oman of Hartly, daughter and her husband, Mary R. and Shawn Pritchett of Hartly, daughter, Selena L. and her husband Walter Darrell of Camden, DE, daughter and her husband, Lisa M. and Keith Sanford of King George, Va.; sister, Dorothy Sawyer of Smyrna, DE and Barbara Williams of Oak Hill, WV; 14 grandchildren , and 11 great-grandchildren. Remembrance Services will be held 3 P.M. Monday, March 13th at South Side Baptist Church South DuPont Hwy. Camden (Friends and family may call from 1-3p.m) . Private Burial will be Tues March 14, 2017 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE at 10:00 a.m , His family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Capital Rehabilitation on Walker Rd, for their care and compassion shown to him and our family.
