Henry John Wester's Obituary
Henry John Wester of Dover Delaware, born November 12, 1958, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed on Saturday August 26,2023 after suffering a massive heart attack. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles, mother, Angela, and two brothers, Thomas and Charles. He is survived by his wife Linda, his children, Andrew and wife Jamie, Jennifer, and Ashley and husband Joey, and grandchildren, A.J., Connor, Wyatt, Madeline, and Landon, siblings Micheal and Martha, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Henry was a proud Air Force veteran, whose service included Security Forces, and Explosive Ordinance Disposal. After getting out of the Air Force he returned to Delaware with his family, where he ended up working for the State of Delaware Department of Corrections for 16 years. He would leave the state to travel around for a few years before returning to be close to his family once again. He would find employment doing private security for sometime, but ended his working career once again working for the State doing court security.
Having finally achieved his dream of owning a home at the end of 2016, Henry spent his last years puttering around his house, wandering around with his wife, and visiting with family, especially his grandchildren whenever he could. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, whether it was camping, walking the trails, or hunting when he could in his younger days. He was always on the look out for some nifty little thing to add to his collection, a trait his son has fully inherited. He enjoyed talking politics with anyone who would listen, and was not afraid to share his views on the current state of the world.
Always willing to help when he could, but rarely asking for help. He was a great man who will be missed by all who knew him.
A public viewing will be held at Traders Funeral Home in Dover on Friday September 1st from 4pm to 6pm. Anyone wishing to come and say their final goodbyes and spend time with his family are more than welcome to attend.
Henry will be interned at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Millsboro, DE on Thursday September 7th at 10am.
