Harry W. Leslie Jr., 90
Hartly – Harry W. Leslie Jr. passed away Thursday July 6, 2023 in Bay Health Southern Campus Milford, Delaware. He was born September 26, 1932 in Dover De. He was the son of the late Harry W. Leslie Sr. and Mary K (Kulhanek) Leslie of Hartly.
He attended Smyrna High School, and served in the US Army during the Korean War, he worked for Acme Markets were he retired and worked on the family farm while managing his roadside produce stand. He also drove a school bus for Mills transportation and Larkin Bus Company.
He was preceded in death his wife of 62 years, Pearl M. (Sipple) Leslie, his parents Harry W. and Mary K. (Kulhanek) Leslie from Hartly, and a Brother Robert Leslie of Hartly De.
He was survived by a sister Joan (Leslie) and husband William C. Nickerson Sr. of Hartly. Three sons, Joseph H. Leslie and wife Paula, Harry W. (Bill) Leslie and wife Dorothy, Jack E. Leslie and wife Darlene, all of Hartly. Two Granddaughters Joanna Leslie and Jessica Hengst.
He was dedicated active life member of the Hartly Volunteer Fire Co. Inc. where he served for over 65 years as a Driver, Fire Policeman and Treasure, from there he went on to serve in the Kent County Fire Police Association for over 60 years while serving twice as President and held the office of Secretary for many years. He also served twice as the President of the Delaware State fire Police Association. He dedicated his life to helping others including Family and Friends.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, making crafts, raising and selling produce, going to sales, eating chicken dumplings at Parkside Deli in Sudlersville Md. and eating breakfasts at Glasgow Deli there in Dover. But most of all he loved watching or listening to Philadelphia Phillies baseball team his entire life.
Harry was a kind, hardworking, thoughtful and loving person who was adored by many who knew him.
Services will be held at the Hartly Volunteer Fire Station on July 15, 2023 with visitation from 9-11am with services starting at 11am with burial at Sharon Hill Memorial Park, Dover Del.
