Glenda Dorothy Vreeland's Obituary
Glenda Dorothy Vreeland of Dover, DE, passed away peacefully at her home on September 20, 2024, at the age of 85. She was born on September 13, 1939, to Glenn and Dorothy Feaster in Jersey City, NJ. Glenda grew up in Jersey City and attended Dickinson High School where she graduated in February 1958. Following high school, she worked for Joseph Dixon Crucible Company where she met the love of her life, Robert ‘Bob’ Vreeland. They married on November 6, 1965. Glenda and Bob moved to Spotswood, NJ where they created a loving home for them and their collie Candy who was the center of their world. In 2004, Glenda and Bob moved to Dover, Delaware where they were blessed with wonderful friends that became family.
Glenda loved to travel and was always planning their next adventure. Anyone that knew Glenda knew about the many cruises that her and Bob enjoyed together. Glenda also dreamed of visiting every state in the U.S. She memorialized each visit by purchasing a state pin that she added to her ‘pin hat.’ Glenda’s many trips driving across the country included Bob as her ‘copilot’ and nights as premier guests at Best Western. Glenda and Bob are the proud founders of ‘Room 300’ and was a tradition that they upheld at the many Vreeland family reunions and events.
Glenda was a true dog lover. She knew the name of every dog on the block and enjoyed greeting each one with a friendly pat or a special treat. Glenda also loved creating her Christmas village each holiday season and getting it just right as it was different from year to year.
Glenda is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Vreeland, of 58 years, and her brother Glen Feaster and wife Anne. Glenda was the proud aunt of 28 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. She was also loved by numerous other family and friends all of which she spent countless hours picking out birthday cards, anniversary cards, etc.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, Glenn and Dorothy Feaster, and sisters, Muriel Barrett and Lorraine Livesey.
At Glenda’s request, there will be no memorial service, but friends and family are asked to take a moment to remember the many special memories.
