Fred Wallace Whitey Kemp's Obituary
Dover, DE - Fred Wallace Kemp passed away,
January 4, 2026, at the Cadia Capitol Dover
nursing care and assisted living facility.
He was born on July 23, 1930, in Wyoming,
DE, the son of Herbert and Catherine (Thornley)
Kemp.
Fred graduated high school and began
working until being drafted into the
Army in 1951. He spent time serving
in Germany before returning to the United
States and completing his service in
the Army reserves in 1956.
On November 7, 1959, he married Frances
Ellen Teat and shared 66 years together
living in Magnolia.
During Fred's working years, he was
most noted for his skills as an auto
mechanic working for Delaware Auto Sales
in Dover, DE. Before retiring, after
40 years, he brought his career to an end
while enjoying auto detailing and driving.
One of his specialties was adding
pinstripes to cars-he took great pride in a
clean car.
After retirement, Fred would sit in his
yard in the summer, under the trees,
enjoying beers with his sons on the weekends.
He watched NASCAR and listened to country
music.
In addition to his parents, he was
predeceased by his brother, Herbert Kemp, Jr.
Surviving in addition to his wife Frances are
his sons, Michael Kemp and his wife Diane
of Felton, David Kemp and his wife Lynn
of Clayton, and Randy McClements and his
companion Georgianna of Felton; three
grandsons, two great-granddaughters and
his sister, Virginia "Ginny" Reynolds.
A military honor service will be held at
the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery
at 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro DE on
Friday, January 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will be held immediately following.
