Frances Chipman Crozier, 98
Marydel – Frances C. Crozier passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30th, 2016. She was born in Winthrop, Massachusetts on March 3, 1917, to the late Charles F. and Grace E. Chipman. As a young girl she lived in Massachusetts and Vermont and moved to Marydel, DE with her sister and brother and mother. She attended both Caesar Rodney and Dover High Schools. She was married in 1935 to Frederick Raymond Crozier. Frances worked at International Latex Corporation during World War II making plastic life rafts and uniforms for the soldiers. After working various jobs over the years she began working at the Kent County Court of Chancery in 1958, where she retired as the Chief Deputy Register in Chancery in 1980. She was an area Avon representative for many years. She was a member of the Marydel Civic Club, Bethesda Grange and the Frazier Homemakers Club for over 50 years. In her leisure time she enjoyed tending her flower garden, making crafts such as crocheting, embroidery and plastic needlework. She joined the Methodist Church at Thomas’ Chapel as a teenager and later transferred her membership to Calvary United Methodist Church of Marydel, where she was a member for 62 years. She was one of the founding members of the Marydel Adult Center in Marydel, DE. She also served on the Marydel Crownstone Committee, which replaced the Mason-Dixon crownstone located on the Delaware-Maryland state line at Marydel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, F. Raymond, parents Charles and Grace, her brother Charles Chipman, sister Dorothy Chipman, sister Barbara Webb and brother Ernest Chipman, also by her son-in-law, Louis C. Antal.
She is survived by two daughters, Frances C. Antal of Marydel, DE and Margaret C. Phillips and her husband Wayne of Chester, VA; four grandchildren, Raymond L. Antal (Pam) of Dover, DE, Jeffrey L. Antal (Cindy) of Marydel, DE, Alan Phillips (Kevin Trieu) of Dover and Dennis Phillips of Philadelphia, PA; four great-grandchildren, Stephanie Black, Heather Parkhurst, Justin Antal and Caitlin Antal; four great-great grandchildren Kalib Parkhurst, Edyn Poole, Sydnie Focht and Troy Focht; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend our gratitude to the many wonderful caretakers she had from 2013 to the present.
Viewing will take place on 2/6/16 from 11 AM to 12 PM. Funeral services will follow the viewing in the chapel of Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, DE. Interment will be at Mount Olive Cemetery, Sandtown, DE. Following the funeral there will be a fellowship at Marydel Volunteer Fire Company, 110 Fire House Lane, Marydel, DE, 19964.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Memorial Fund of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Marydel, MD, care of Carolyn Thomas, Treasurer, 896 Sandy Bend Road, Marydel, DE 19964.
