Ethel M. Grigsby's Obituary
Ethel Marie Grigsby, 96, of Cheswold, passed away at her residence on Friday, February 17th, 2023. She was born in Philadelphia on May 6th, 1926, the daughter of the late Charles Russell Wiley and Edna L. Wheat Wiley. She held fond memories of horse-drawn carriages delivering milk through the streets of Philadelphia in the early mornings. She cherished the beautiful Christmas memories she had with her family as a young girl after moving to Bridgeville, Delaware. Mrs. Grigsby was a devoted wife and mother of two sons. When her sons were grown, she began working at Boscov’s during the grand opening of the Dover Mall in 1982. She found joy in feeding the many birds and cats that visited her home. Mrs. Grigsby was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil R. Grigsby Jr., who died in 2006, and her eldest son, V. Russell Grigsby, who died in 2020. She is survived by her son, C. Robert Grigsby, and nieces and nephews, including Diana Grigsby Scherger and her husband, Dave. Services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, March 1st, 2023 at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, in Dover, followed by interment at Lakeside Cemetery, in Dover. Friends may call from 11 A.M. to 12 P.M.. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bayada Hospice of Delaware, 4250 Lancaster Pike, Suite 308, Wilmington, DE 19805.
