Emily Ruth Opdyke's Obituary
Emily "Tiny" Ruth Opdyke, 51, passed away due to complications with cancer in her home on December 8th, 2018 in Dover, DE. She was born on February 28th, 1967 to Richard and Sally Anne Moore. On November 11th, 1989, she married Donald "Duga" James Opdyke, whom she spent 29 years of marriage with.
Tiny was a member of the Little Creek Fire Company for 18 years, as well as mentored children for the Capitol School District for 8 years. She was dedicated to her work and helping others. Even while going through treatment for her cancer, she never let that get in the way of her giving to charity and servicing her local community.
She is survived by her husband and four dogs, her son and daughter-in-law Kyle and Raven Opdyke, her best friend Christine Pierson, her brother Richard "Skeeter" Moore, her aunt Esther Wales, and her godchildren Josey Wales and Olivia Opdyke. Also her extended family including the Attix, Daisy, Opdyke, Moore, and Mayhall families, as well as friends she has made within the Ladies Auxiliary, Tidewater Utilities, and Wyoming Concrete.
Services will be Friday Dec. 14 at 1 PM at Trader Funeral Home Dover, DE and family and friends may call Thursday Dec. 13 at the funeral home from 5 to 7 PM.
