Elizabeth Wharton Livingston's Obituary
Elizabeth W. Livingston
Mrs. Elizabeth Wharton Wilson Livingston was a long-time resident of Dover and Rehoboth by the Sea. Born on April 9, 1923, in Dover, Delaware, she died peacefully at her home on August 5, 2017. Pat was the daughter of the late Richard Emerson Wilson and Sarah Wharton Wilson, both of Dover. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Anna Pierson in 1997.
In 1941, Pat, who was also known as Betty, graduated from Dover High School, and in 1943, she graduated as valedictorian from Linden Hall Jr. College. An active, 60-year member of the First Baptist Church of Dover, she loved gracing the sanctuary with artistic floral arrangements, and took comfort in her Bible. Most of her life, she was fulltime bookkeeper in her husband’s businesses, and, when her daughters were small, she participated in their Girl Scouts.
Pat was an ardent admirer of the Arts, and was proficient in sewing and painting. She also enjoyed researching her family genealogy in latter years, while being a member of the Daughters of American Revolution.
Mrs. Livingston is survived by her husband, William P. Livingston, and two daughters, Jo Anne Livingston Fahey Ivie and son-in-law, Bill Ivie of Chatham, Virginia, and June Livingston Hedges and son-in-law, Bernard H. Hedges, of Roseville, California, and five grandchildren, Thomas and Steven Fahey, and Quinn Hedges, Hilary Hedges Dibben, Rebecca Hedges, and three great grandchildren: Mia Hedges Jacobs, Ryder Hedges Dibben, and Liam Hedges.
The family would like to acknowledge a very special thanks to Sarah Nelson, Kim Bishop, and Mike Lewis, her kind and gentle caregivers.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Dover, 301 Walker Road, Dover, Delaware, August 18, 2017, at 11 AM. Visitation will be held at 10 AM, with a graveside service at Lakeside Cemetery after the funeral service. A fellowship luncheon welcoming family and friends will immediately follow at the church.
It is suggested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Dover.Letters of condolences may be sent to www.traderfh.com
