Elaine Jane Eckbold's Obituary
Elaine Jane Eckbold (nee Emely) passed away on January 28, 2022 at her home in Dover, Delaware at age 87. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Harry and Agnes Emely. Elaine is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Roy Walter Eckbold. Also left to cherish her memory are her children, Roy William Eckbold (Laurene), David Eckbold (Robin), Glenn Eckbold (Lynne), Janice Eckbold Boc Myers (Randy), 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Elaine was predeceased by her parents, her only sister Dorothy, and her son-in-law Robert Boc.Elaine completed training at Frankford Hospital to become a nurse, but proudly chose Homemaker as her career. She helped to raise her children in Philadelphia and later in Wilmington, Delaware. Elaine was a prolific letter and card writer and jigsaw puzzle master. She also enjoyed reading, and researching and planning family vacations. Her Christian faith was very important to her throughout her life and she enjoyed teaching and singing in various Presbyterian congregations. In 1996, Elaine and Roy moved to Westminster Village in Dover, Delaware, a Presbyterian senior living community, where they participated in the village’s activities and volunteered in the thrift shop. They travelled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 1 PM at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, Delaware, where visitation will begin at 12 PM. Masks are required. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, 2928 Sharon Hill Road, Dover, Delaware.
