Edith J Rash's Obituary
Edith J. Rash, a resident of 21 North State Street, Dover Delaware, passed away at age 91on September 23, 2016. She was born in Clayton on April 7, 1925 to the late Thomas and Clara Jarman, and was one of ten children. She met Nelson W. Rash while they were both working for Wilson Refrigeration in Smyrna. They were married in 1948, and resided in Cheswold until 2000 when they moved to Dover.
She was employed by the Dover school district for 27 years as a secretary. Most of her career was spent in the main office of Dover High School, followed by a period in the district central office. During her years at Dover High she was active in the Band Boosters. She was also a committed member of the Cheswold United Methodist Church, for which she did flower arrangements for many years. She enjoyed gardening, travel, cooking, spending time with friends and family. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. Above all, she found meaning in doing for others; whether she was making new faculty members at the high school feel welcome, taking meals to neighbors or, later in life, assisting the aides on Rose Lane. The high regard so many have for her is a testament to her generosity and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Nelson; brothers T.Nobel Jarman, Clinton Jarman, Walter Jarman, Bernard Jarman and Watson Jarman; sisters Dorcas Peet, Myrtle McClements and Betty Sue Heinold. She is survived by son Donald and his wife Elaine, of Plains Pennsylvania; brother J. Kline Jarman and his wife Edith of Hartly,Delaware, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in the chapel of Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, Delaware on Thursday September 29 at 12:00 noon. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m to noon.
Her family would like to express their deep gratitude to the administration and staff of State Street Assisted Living for their care and concern over the past five years, and to Seasons Hospice for making her comfortable in her final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cheswold United Methodist Church or the Cheswold Volunteer Fire Company. Letters of comdolences may be sent to www.traderfh.com
