Dear Sandy, Billy and your families
Donna was a dear and good friend of mine, and I would like to share with you some memories of her that I cherish. We first met when she came to work at DPI about 1967, and we shared an office space for a while. I liked her immediately and enjoyed her company, whether we were at work, at the beach, playing tennis, celebrating birthdays at lunch, or just taking walks. One day, she asked me if I would like to take tennis lessons with her that the city was offering, and I did, and that was the start of a lifelong sport for me that I still enjoy. She even sparked in me an interest in Bridge that, unfortunately, didn't last very long. I learned to play but not well. She, of course, was an excellent Bridge player. We took many walks together in the neighborhood, especially after we retired. If I wanted company, she was always ready to go for a walk with me and my dog. And we talked about everything--our families, our love for our children and grandchildren, our friends, current events, gardening, our hopes and of course our worries. After she moved to Westminster, we continued our walks there until she just couldn't anymore. I have never had a better friend than Donna.
With love,
Joyce Kershaw
