Our dear, loving husband, dad and grandpa passed suddenly from this life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 23, 2023. David L. Green, age 89, of Dover, DE, was born in Oakfield, NY to his late parents Elwyn "Pat" and Theodora Green. He was also predeceased by his sister Gloria Betters (Ralph) and his infant son Michael Wayne Green.

He was also a member of the Ground Observer Corp during WW II, where he and his father would climb observation towers at night to watch for enemy planes. He worked at the original JELLO Company in Leroy NY as a machine operator.
David met and married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Woodhouse of Batavia, NY on August 14, 1954. In 1956 he joined the U.S. Army as a PFC and was stationed in Germany for 2 years. He played on the Army baseball team and was in the same unit as Elvis Presley. In 1959, David and Barbara Green returned to Batavia and were soon blessed with a daughter, Rebecca Faith.
In 1963 the JELLO Co transferred them to Dover, DE. David stayed with JELLO ( General Foods ) until he retired as a Painter.
David, Barbara and Becky joined the Calvary Church of the Nazarene ( now the Cross Church ) where he served as Church Treasurer for over 40 years. David served on the church board and sang in the church choir. He and his wife, Barbara, served the Lord throughout their 69 years of marriage by taking meals to sick friends, helping in any way they could. They were regulars at Spences Bazaar meeting friends for breakfast. David and Barbara were always together until his passing. He was also an avid bowler in several leagues.
David is survived by his wife of 69 years, Barbara, his daughter, Becky (Chuck) and his grandson, Jordan David Bernard. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, William, and his loving 3-legged cat, Callie, who adored being by his side on the couch watching football.
David was a strong man, a Christian role model and was often heard saying he knew where he was going after this life. He is now at peace in his heavenly home.
