Daniel W. Seeman Sr.

Daniel W. Seeman, Sr. (Dan) passed away surrounded by his loving family on December 30, 2015. He was born on December 4, 1928 in Saskatchewan, Canada. He is predeceased by his parents, Ida (Warner) and William Jacob Seemann and his beloved granddaughter, Jackie R. Seeman. Dan joined the US Air Force by the age of 20 and served for 24 years, retiring in 1974 as a Master Sargent. Dan served as Governor of Moose Lodge 203. He was a Lifetime Member of the VFW, the American Legion, the AFSA and the Knights of Columbus. After retirement at Dover AFB he worked for the Civil Service. On January 8, 1977 Dan married Wilma (Hoffer) Seeman and later they moved to Hawaii, where he continued his Civil Service work at Hickam AFB for 24 years. Dan and Willie enjoyed 26 wonderful years in paradise before moving back to the mainland. While in Hawaii, they welcomed family and friends and they enjoyed square dancing and exploring the beautiful islands. After a 4 year period in Memphis, TN Dan and Willie moved to Newark, DE to be near family. Dan’s eyes beamed with pride whenever he spoke of their 7 boys or their grandchildren’s accomplishments. Dan had a personality that would light up a room whether it was filled with a hundred people or just a few to celebrate any and all occasions. Dan is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Willie, his sons Daniel W. Seeman, Jr., Lawrence J. Seeman (Stephanie), Glenn E. Seeman (Terri), Craig L. Seeman (AO), J. Stan Hoffer (Heather), G. Keith Hoffer (Jennifer) and G. Wayne Hoffer (Lisa). Dan adored his grandchildren Daniel, Matthew, Larry, Jenna, Alex, Tim, Nicky, Ashley, Heather, Jason (Sam), Erich (Kristen), Marcus, Sarah (Ryan), Peter, Aaron and Rhianna and his great grandchildren Caleb and Nora. Dan is also survived by his cherished sister, Jean T. Hagstrom (Art) and his beloved niece Terri Saraceni (Richard) and their children, Daniel J. and Tyson R. (Nicole) and his great nieces Brooklyn and Charley as well as a large extended family. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016 from 3-5 pm at the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, DE followed by a service at 5 pm. Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the National Alzheimer’s Association, P.O.
