Cornelia Connie Barbetta's Obituary
Cornelia Arias Esquierdo Barbetta passed away on June 16, 2026, at the age of 86.
Born on March 19, 1940, in Guiuan Samar, Philippines, Cornelia lived a life centered on God, family, love, and dedication to those she held dear. She carried the values of her Filipino heritage throughout her life and touched many people with her kindness, strength, and caring spirit.
Cornelia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas James Barbetta, who passed away on August 26, 2010. Together they built a loving family and shared many years of cherished memories.
She is survived by her four children: Michael Barbetta, Timothy Barbetta, Janice Barbetta, and Deanna and Wayland Winder.
She was a proud grandmother to Justin Barbetta, Andrew and Kristina Barbetta, Karlee and Jason Phan, Miranda and Jared Brown, Nelia Nuss, and Emily and Jake Heyer.
Cornelia was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Elliot Barbetta, Michael Heyer, Dominic Barbetta, and Penelope Brown, who brought her great joy and pride.
Cornelia’s greatest accomplishment and source of happiness was her family. She will be remembered for her loving heart, her devotion to her children and grandchildren, and the lasting impact she made on the lives of those who knew and loved her.
No matter where military life took her, Cornelia remained dedicated to serving others, volunteering her time through her church and within the communities where she lived.
Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on through the family she cherished and the love she shared throughout her life.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Cross Church Thursday June 25, 2026, at 12 noon. Private Burial will be Friday June 26, 2026, 10 AM at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Bear, DE
