Charles A. Shinsky, Jr.
Charles “Charlie” Shinsky, Jr., 68, of Hartly, Delaware, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2015 in Smyrna, Delaware.
Charles was born May 20, 1947 to Charles and Lillian (Butler) Shinsky in Dover, Delaware. He attended Holy Cross Catholic School and graduated from Dover High in 1965. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy. On April 2, 1966 he married Mary Alice Coughlan of Dover, Delaware. After 23 years of service, he retired as a Senior Master Chief from the United States Navy. Charles then began a second career as an Electronics teacher at Polytech High School in Woodside, Delaware, receiving Advisor and Teacher of the year awards. After retiring from teaching, Charles was an active member of the Elks in Dover, Delaware and the Red Knights Motorcycle Club.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lillian. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Shinsky; his two daughters, Francine Marie and her husband, John Franklin of Burke, Virginia, Noël Starr and her husband, Kevin Foster of Havre de Grace, Maryland; his two grandchildren, Jarek Franklin and Marvin Spencer, his brother, Michael Shinsky and wife, Lori of Dover, Delaware ; as well as extended family and many friends.
Services and Visitation will be from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at Trader’s Funeral Home Dover, DE on Monday, March 30th. Burial will be at Barrett’s Chapel in Frederica, DE.
