Betty Ann Banks' Obituary
Betty Ann Banks (née Masten), 72, of Dover, Delaware, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, in her hometown. Born on June 23, 1953, in Dover, Betty lived a life marked by dedication, strength, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved.
Betty began her professional journey as a property manager for Klein Management, where her tireless work ethic and attention to detail left a lasting impression. Later in life, she found her true calling as a bartender at The American Legion Post #2. Her warmth and charisma made her one of the most beloved bartenders the establishment had ever known. Betty’s ability to connect with people and brighten their days was unmatched.
A devoted wife and mother, Betty shared a loving marriage with her husband, Eric D. Banks. Together they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. She was the proud mother of J. Michael Slaughter (wife Kelly) and Eric R. Banks and the adoring grandmother of Desirae Powell, Austin Leone, and Alexis Leone. Betty’s family was the center of her world, and she poured her heart into ensuring their happiness and well-being. She especially cherished the Christmas season, when having family gathered all around her brought her the greatest joy. It was a time she looked forward to each year, filled with love, laughter, and treasured traditions.
Betty is also survived by her siblings: Howard "Hootie" Masten, Sara Lee, and Pamela Masten. She was predeceased by her parents, Ida and Howard Masten; her daughter Terra Masten; her brother Dale Masten; and her sister Brenda Masten.
Those who knew Betty will remember her as a selfless and thoughtful woman who never hesitated to help others. Her strength was inspiring—she faced life’s challenges head-on with determination and grace.
Betty’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her.
