Barbara Lee Petsch Hart's Obituary
Barbara Lee Petsch Hart passed away on January, 21st., 2022, in Dover, Delaware. Barbara Lee Petsch was born on September 4, 1936 in Dover, Delaware. She was the daughter of the late Ernest John and Myrtle Wooters Loyd Petsch. To some of her family and friends she was affectionately called “Barbie”. She graduated from Dover High School in 1954. Following her graduation, she attended the University of Delaware and graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science Degree, and in 1962 with a Masters Degree in Education. After graduation she became a teacher for the Caesar Rodney School District. She taught 6th grade for 33 years. Barbara was an exceptional teacher who truly cared about her students. Barbara loved going to her church, the First Baptist Church of Dover, where she was a lifelong member and participated in many church activities. She was the Church Treasure for many years and served on many church committees. Barbara was a member of the hand bell choir along with her sister. She also enjoyed traveling with her sister, (Jeannie), the late Jean Loyd Petsch. Traveling with her sister was a highlight of her life.She enjoyed going out to dine with her family and friends. Barbara was well known for her yearly Christmas Party, which she looked forward to every year. Barbara Lee Petsch Hart was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Delaware State Education Association, the National Education Association, the American Association of University Women, the Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Association, and the Roundtable Club of Camden Wyoming, Delaware. She is survived by Thomas and Myrland Keller of Dover, and many other cousins. She is also survived by a dear friend, Marlene Nicholson of Dover and many friends and colleagues. Funeral service's will be Wed. Feb. 9, 2022 at 12 noon at the First Baptist Church Dover and friends may call one hour before the time of service's at the church. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery Dover.
