Barbara Manlove Moore's Obituary
Barbara Jane Manlove Moore, 93, passed away Wednesday, February 16th, 2022, peacefully at home with her family. Barbara was born April 30th, 1928, in Milford, Delaware. She was the daughter of the late George Smith Manlove and Mabel Annie Boone Manlove. She was the oldest of two children, the other, her brother George S. Manlove Jr. Barbara met her husband, Howard Earl Moore, through her job at Playtex in Dover. Her future Mother-in-Law, Lottie Teat worked with her, and Barbara walked down to ask for a ride to work. That is the first time that she saw her future husband, sitting there polishing his shoes. From there, Howard asked Barbara on a date, and they married that same year, December 7th, 1946. Howard was in the Air Force at the time, and once they were married, they traveled the country extensively. They had four children, Phyllis, Howard, Carol and Timothy. Barbara took great joy in raising her family. Eventually, they settled back in Delaware and raised their family here. For some years, they lived in Clayton, and ran a Christmas Tree Farm. Barbara enjoyed dancing every weekend with Howard, and they knew how to cut a rug! She loved to read, embroider, and garden. She was an avid canner and enjoyed making bread and butter pickles. She loved history and watching old movies, especially westerns with John Wayne and anything with Shirley Temple. She volunteered her time and served as a ladies’ auxiliary leader at the Clayton VFW post 8801. She and Howard loved to entertain and the annual crab feast at the Moore farm was always a huge event! Her ultimate joy, however, were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Mabel Manlove, her husband of over 60 years, Howard E. Moore, and her son, Timothy Holt Moore. Barbara is survived by her brother, George Smith (Barbie) Manlove Jr. of Hadden Heights N.J., her daughters Phyllis Diana Degraw of Bend, Oregon, and Carol Ann (John) Skadsberg of Dover, and her son, Howard George (Kathy) Moore of Dover.
