Barbara Ann McKnight's Obituary
Barbara Ann McKnight of Camden-Wyoming passed Thursday, November 23, 2017, surrounded by family and friends in her home. She was 77.
Barbara was born in Wilmington, Delaware, beloved daughter of the late William N. Hobbs and Elmira Marsteller Hobbs.
Barbara recently retired from the Census Bureau after 32 years of dedicated service. She began her career as a field representative in 1985; she also worked as a senior field representative, and on to a senior field supervisor, roles which she mastered. Throughout her career she received several awards in recognition for her service to the Federal Census Bureau, including the Bronze Medal Award, the highest honorary recognition awarded by the U.S. Census Bureau. All those that worked with her at the agency had nothing but respect and admiration.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph E. McKnight and three daughters, Lisa McKnight Alfaro and her husband Marcos, Alison McKnight, and Michele Reid; a loving brother and sister; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; she also leaves behind a lot of caring friends and family.
Friends may call from 5pm -8pm on Friday, December 1st at Trader’s Funeral Home in Dover. Services will be at 10 am on Saturday, December 2nd at Trader’s Funeral Home. Burial will be at Gracelawn Memorial Park, DuPont Parkway, Newcastle following the services.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Judes Hospital an organization dear to her heart.
