Barbara J. “Barb” Whiting Heape, 77Barbara Jean Heape of Marydel, passed away on Friday May 14, 2021, with her family by her side at Courtland Manor Nursing home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s she was 77.Barb, was born on March 15, 1944 in Rigley, Md to the late John M Whiting and Kathleen (Coleman) Whiting Barbara worked for the family business Ethan Allen Furniture Store as the bookkeeper for several years until the business was sold, she then worked for Town of Felton town office until her retirement. Barb’s greatest joy was her family she and loved spending time with her friends, she had a compassion for animals especially horse’s and loved arts and crafts. She grew up on the water, loved boating water skiing and fishing with the family also loved to ride motorcyle's. Barbara had the most caring compassionate heart and would help anyone she could, she was known as “Mom” to all of her daughter’s friends would always be available to lend a listing ear and an open mind. She survived by her only child Lori Miller and son in-law C. Wayne Miller and her two grandchildren Dylan and Brooke Miller, sister Nancy Johnson, niece Tami Davidson and nephew Jon Cain. Services will be held on May 25, at 5:00 PM at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St. Dover, DE, Burial will be private. There will be a small gathering after the service at Wolfie's Grill 510 Jefferic Blvd. Dover, DE 19901In leu of flowers please consider a contribution to The Alzheimer’s Association. In consideration of protecting the family and friends health, for the prevention of the spread, of the covid-19 virus, public health guidelines are in place.
